GPS-based speed measurement 'Dragy'.

Today's parts review. 'Dragy 10 Hz GPS Based Performance Meter'.

Car speedometers cannot capture changes at the tenths-of-second level due to errors and time lags, whereas Dragy can accurately measure 0-100 km/h acceleration, 0-400 m, 100-0 km/h, etc., as it is based on GPS and can measure in 0.01 second increments.

Racechip, which makes tuning chips for supercharged and turbocharged cars, has uploaded the following video comparing 100-200 km/h acceleration before and after a tune. This is also measured with Dragy.

review

I actually bought and used it myself.

It is about this size so it is easy to carry around. The battery is said to last for 10 hours. However, the battery is quite weak in the feeling of using it, so I think it is about 3-4 hours in continuous use.

I'm not interested in 0-100 acceleration, so I did 100-200 km/h.

100 200 measurement results in Dragy.

It is not necessary to start at 100 km/h. If you accelerate fully from around 80 km/h, the measurement will start at 100 km/h on its own. Blue is the speed, light blue is the altitude based on 100 km/h and orange is the acceleration G. The 'Valid' mark is stamped in the top right corner: if the gradient between 100 km/h and 200 km/h is less than 1%, it means that the data is Valid. You do not need to set the 0-100 km/h, 100-200 km/h, 0-200 km/h, 0-400 m, etc., and the data will be measured on its own when you reach that speed. In the 100-200 km/h data this time, you can measure (1) the distance reached from 100 km/h to 200 km/h, (2) the time reached and (3) the gradient. The arrival time is also measured in 10 km/h increments, so you can compare the acceleration of different vehicles in their respective speed zones.

You can also see measurement data from all over the world like this. If you have tuned your car, it will also be listed, so you can use it as a guide for your own tuning. You can see not only the time, but also the change in altitude, so you can see where the acceleration is more or less accurate. The temperature at the time of the measurement is also displayed, so you can see if you're faster because it's cold.

Where to buy.

It is expensive to buy on Amazon in Japan. 25,000 yen,

We compared prices on Amazon and Dragy websites in the USA, UK, Germany and other countries.

The cheapest was Amazon in the USA for around ¥18,000, including transport costs. It usually takes two or three weeks to ship, but if you pay a little more for the optional shipping fee, it will arrive within a week, so you can buy time for your money. Amazon in Germany and the UK can deliver in a few days, but this is not much different from Japan.

If you are not in a hurry, you can import from Amazon in the USA for about ¥7,000 cheaper.
