Lamborghini Aventador SV — Burbling & Anti-Lag (Pops & Bangs) Tuning
The Lamborghini Aventador SV is built around one of the last truly great engines of its era — a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12. At mbFAST we gave this SV burbling (pops & bangs) and anti-lag, sharpening the drama of that V12 without changing its character. On a car this rare, sound is part of the experience: crackle on the overrun and flames on a throttle blip turn every drive into an event.
Finished in a striking bright green, this Aventador SV already turns heads. Adding burbling and anti-lag effects to the sound of its V12 engine makes its presence even more commanding.

What is burbling and anti-lag (pops & bangs)?
Burbling is a type of tuning that produces crackling “pop-pop” and “crackle-crackle” sounds from the exhaust when you lift off the throttle. Anti-lag (afterfire) is the effect created when unburned gas ignites in the exhaust, adding drama not only to the sound but also to the visual flames.
It pairs exceptionally well with a naturally aspirated V12 like the one in the Aventador SV, adding an even more emotional character to its already sensual sound. As always, we achieved the sound effect through ECU programming, keeping stress on the vehicle to a minimum.
There is also a point unique to the Aventador worth sharing. Normally, burbling and anti-lag occur when you lift off the throttle, but with the throttle fully released no fuel is injected, so flames do not naturally appear. To work around this, on the Aventador we deliberately set a 5mm to 1cm of “play” in the accelerator pedal, and tune it so the sound and flames only appear when you lightly blip within that range.
The mechanism works like this: since pressing the pedal further would obviously accelerate the car, we retard the ignition timing only when the pedal is operated slightly within that play range. Instead of igniting the air-fuel mixture sealed inside the cylinder, we intentionally ignite it while the exhaust valve is open, so the leftover fuel burns on the exhaust side and is expelled continuously as anti-lag flames.
Footage captured through the digital rearview mirror after installation
The video below was filmed through the car’s digital rearview mirror. We think it conveys the anti-lag flames coming from the rear and the atmosphere of the burbling sound. Please turn up the volume when you watch.
