Available for Nissan R35 GTR flames

“Afterfire” is a type of ECU tuning that rewrites the ECU so flames shoot out from the exhaust. From single-shot afterfire to flame-thrower-style bursts — the latter is called Dragon Afterfire.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does afterfire put stress on the Lamborghini?

Bubbling and afterfire can potentially cause the exhaust to come loose or flanges to melt. Exhaust manifolds may also crack in some cases. We recommend ensuring you have a sturdy exhaust system before installation. Excessive afterfire can also melt surrounding bumpers or body panels, so we recommend applying heat-resistant protection film as a precaution.

Will fuel economy change?

The more afterfire is triggered, the more fuel is consumed, which may worsen fuel economy in those moments. During normal driving, the fuel map remains unchanged, so fuel economy is generally unaffected.

Is explosive-style bubbling possible?

Yes, it is possible. However, enriching the fuel mixture too much tends to soften the explosiveness into a dull “thud” sound, so balance is key. Making the mixture too rich can slightly weaken the afterfire as well. The type of exhaust manifold (aftermarket vs. stock) and the exhaust brand also affect how afterfire and bubbling sound. Increasing throttle deadzone makes it fire more easily, but can also introduce roughness. For this reason, we generally recommend on-site installation rather than mail-in ECU service.

Can the afterfire intensity be adjusted?

Yes. As mentioned above, various settings such as fuel richness and deadzone amount can be tuned to achieve different effects.
