No International Driving Permit. No deposit hold on your card. No convoy behind a pace car. One tuned R35, your group only, a tuner-owner at the wheel — and the night runs when it rains.

  • Price: ¥55,000 per group for 1–2 guests (approx. $355) · ¥66,000 for 3 guests (approx. $425). Tax, tolls, fuel and parking included.
  • Route: A PIT AUTOBACS Shinonome → Shuto Expressway → Rainbow Bridge → Daikoku PA or Umihotaru → Tokyo Tower. Order flexes with traffic.
  • Private: one car, one booking a day. Never mixed with strangers.
  • Licence: none needed — no IDP, no deposit, no manual-gearbox test. You ride, the owner drives. Rain-proof.
  • Cancellation: free up to 24 hours before departure.

This is not a tour-company product with a hired driver. mbPIT is run by mbFAST Tuning, the ECU-tuning house behind DragonAfterfire, and the GT-R owners who hang out at our bar in Shibuya. The night drive to Daikoku is what we do anyway on weekends — you are riding along, in a tuned R35, with someone who can tell you what every car in the parking lot is.

Why a GT-R, and why this one

The R35 is the car that defines Japanese performance for most visitors, and ours are not showroom cars: ECU-tuned by us, with the exhaust note to match. The flames you see in our videos are our calibration work, not an effect. You will hear the difference in the Bayshore tunnels.

Because the people driving are owners and tuners rather than guides, the conversation is about cars — what is parked at Daikoku, why the Wangan matters, what we are working on in the shop. If you want silence and the view, that works too.

Daikoku PA — the honest version

Daikoku is the main stop on a good night and the most famous car meet in Japan. It is also unreachable without a car (no trains, no walking access), often closed by police on Friday and Saturday nights, and empty on a cold Tuesday. We decide on the night; when it is closed we go to Umihotaru, the parking area in the middle of Tokyo Bay, or another meet. For the full picture read Daikoku PA in 2026: how to visit and when it’s closed.

If you do have a valid IDP and want to be behind the wheel, a self-drive tour, a kart tour or a rental is a legitimate choice — they are different products. Many guests do both: drive one night, ride with us the next and actually look at the cars.

FAQ

Can I drive the GT-R?

No. This is a passenger-seat experience with a local owner at the wheel. You ride along, take photos and enjoy the car. No licence or international driving permit is needed — which is exactly why it works for visitors who cannot do the street-kart or self-drive tours.

How is this different from a self-drive GT-R tour?

Self-drive tours put you in the driver seat of a tuned car in a convoy behind a guide. They need an original 1949-Geneva International Driving Permit, a passport, a credit-card deposit and a sober driver, and some European and other licences are not valid for driving in Japan at all. Our night drive has none of that: a tuner-owner drives one private GT-R, you sit in the passenger seat, drink at the bar before and after, bring your kids, and photograph Tokyo instead of watching the mirrors. Same expressway, same Daikoku — a different seat.

Is it really private?

Yes. One booking per day, and the seats in your car are yours alone — we never put strangers in your car. Other GT-R owners from our community sometimes join the run in their own cars; a convoy of R35s through the night is part of the culture.

Is the route fixed?

No. Think of it as a typical night, not a timetable. We aim for A PIT AUTOBACS Shinonome, the Shuto Expressway, Rainbow Bridge, Daikoku PA or Umihotaru and Tokyo Tower, but the order and exact stops move with traffic, closures and conditions. Daikoku is sometimes closed on Friday and Saturday nights — see our Daikoku guide.

Do you pick us up at our hotel?

Yes, on request, free within Tokyo’s 23 wards. We still recommend starting at mbPIT Shibuya: the welcome drink and the simulator lap before the real drive are part of the experience.

What is included?

The private GT-R R35, an English-speaking local driver, a racing simulator session before departure, a welcome drink at the bar, expressway tolls, fuel, parking, and free hotel pickup and drop-off within the 23 wards. Food and extra drinks are not included.

How far ahead can I book, and how do I pay?

The calendar opens three months ahead. Pay securely by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay when you request a date, or send the request and pay after we confirm. Dates are confirmed by email within 24 hours; if we cannot confirm, you are refunded in full or moved to the nearest night — your choice.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Can we bring our kids?

Yes — children from age 2 are welcome with a parent or guardian. Ages 2 to 5 need a child seat by Japanese law; we have one ready, just tell us when you book. Under 2 is the one hard limit: these are tuned cars with real exhaust notes.

What happens if it rains?

We drive. Tokyo’s expressways, Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower are at their best wet and lit; if Daikoku is closed or empty we switch to Umihotaru or another meet. The simulator hour before departure is indoors either way.

One car. One group. Tonight could be yours.

Pick a night on the calendar; we confirm by email within 24 hours.
