There are many ways to tune a car to make it faster. These include changing the suspension, weight reduction with a dongara inside the car, engine power upgrades (intake, exhaust, ECU rewrite, turbo upgrades, sports camshafts, etc.) and many more. The easiest, cheapest and first step in tuning is to install a sports air clutch.

First step in tuning [sports air cleaner].

The air cleaner is a filter that catches sand, dust and other airborne debris before air enters the engine. If the air is not cleaned here, the engine will be damaged. The factory filter is very fine and reduces the air intake efficiency. The filter itself can usually be replaced from the top of the engine, so the easiest thing to do first is to replace this filter with one with better intake efficiency.

K&N is the most well-known manufacturer with a range of high-flow air cleaners. Most air cleaners are available. The cost of a parallel import for a Mercedes is 15,000 yen, while a genuine one costs a little over 20,000 yen.

My car is a Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG with a 5.4L supercharger. With a charger in the car, you can especially feel that it is faster just by using a sports air clutch.

But let's add another hassle to this! That is,

'Airbox spacer'!

By biting this aluminium between the filter and its receiver in the air cleaner box, the intake resistance to the air cleaner is reduced.

According to a certain American tuner, this "sports air clips" + "spacers" is all that is needed.

In fact, I feel that this alone improves the intake efficiency and makes acceleration slightly faster. I will soon measure the 100-200km/h acceleration and see how much faster it is. I had originally installed a sports aircleaner, so I think it will probably be around 0.2 or 0.3 seconds. However, the car was originally capable of 100-200 in 9.52 seconds (outside temperature 5°C), so the rate of shortening is not that much, but therefore even a 0.1-second reduction can be felt.
